Wath upon Dearne is a town on the south side of the Dearne Valley in the historic county of the West Riding of Yorkshire, sitting within the Metropolitan Borough of Rotherham, South Yorkshire. 

Close by are the Rotherham, Doncaster and Barnsley with Doncaster Sheffield Airport only 30 minutes away. Good highway connections between the M1 and A1 makes the area ideal for commuters.

Wath upon Dearne is centred on Montgomery Square, which contains the town’s main shops, the library and the bus station.

After the collapse of the coal industry, Wath is now an emerging town with several large distribution warehouses for the clothing chain Next. It is also home to a number of call centres, including O2, BMW, Transport for London, Thames Water, Southern Water, Halfords, William Hill, Npower and RSPCA as well as many retail outlets close by. Development of much-needed housing is sure to make the location an even more desirable location to live and work.

Dearne Valley Nature Reserve

Close by is the RSPB Dearne Valley Old Moor nature reserve. Once famous for its coal mining, this stunning area of reclaimed wetland now teems with wildlife. 

With a wide range of facilities, there is something for everyone to enjoy, from idyllic walks or wildlife watching to pond dipping and an adventure playground, perfect for families. In the summer the meadows are full of orchids, wildflowers and butterflies. In winter, it is home to hundreds of ducks, swans and geese.
