Iconic Doncaster development shortlisted for Regeneration Scheme of the Year

The Northern Housing Awards celebrate the achievements of the housing sector, and how the companies and people who work for them are helping communities to thrive whilst helping to build a better North.

It meant a lot to us here at Empire that our conversion of the iconic Grade II listed Danum House in the heart of Doncaster was shortlisted in the Regeneration Scheme of the Year category.

Speaking about the awards shortlisting, Managing Director of Empire, Paul Rothwell said, ​“It’s great to get the recognition for our work at the development.

“With its Grade II listed status, the conversion was far from straight-forward but the team at Empire shares a great deal of pride in what was achieved. It’s particularly pleasing that the development is on our doorstep.

“We have created quality homes, allowing people to live, work and play in Doncaster.’

NatWest Great British Entrepreneur Awards

Winner – Scale-Up Entrepreneur of the Year

The NatWest Great British Entrepreneur Awards acknowledges and celebrates entrepreneurs and businesses across the United Kingdom. In particular, it celebrates the stories that have made these businesses what they are today.

It is a celebration of the UK business community what businesses have brought to the community and economy. In 2018 our founder Paul Rothwell was delighted to win the award for Scale-Up Entrepreneur of the Year.

When asked how it was possible to scale up at such a rate, Paul said ​“The loan note allows investors to take advantage of the UK property market, without having to buy any property themselves. The success of the mini-bond investment vehicle is allowing us to grow the business at a fast pace and allowing us to take on bigger and bigger properties.”

Insider Property Awards

Shortlisted for Refit and Refurbishment Company of the year

In 2018 we were both honoured and greatful to be shortlisted for the prestigious Insider Property Awards for the catagory Refit and Refurbishment Company of the year. Our managing director Paul Rothwell had this to say: ​“The work we do creates much needed affordable housing whilst helping to regenerate town centres and I think that this is also being recognised. We are also bringing work to local contractors and using local services.”
