The conversion of the iconic Grade II listed Danum House in the heart of Doncaster by Empire has been shortlisted in the Regeneration Scheme of the Year category at the prestigious Northern Housing Awards.
The awards celebrate the achievements of the housing sector and how the companies and people who work for them are helping communities to thrive whilst helping to build a better North.
Doncaster-based Empire, who celebrated the opening of Danum House in 2019, will be up against five other schemes at a virtual awards ceremony, hosted by comedian and actor, Justin Moorhouse next month.
The detailed and meticulous conversion of the 1930s building into 78 one, two and three-bedroom luxury apartments took two years to complete; revitalising a disused building occupying a prime location in the centre of the town.
Speaking about the awards shortlisting, Managing Director of Empire, Paul Rothwell said, “It’s great to get the recognition for our work at the development.
“With its Grade II listed status, the conversion was far from straight-forward but the team at Empire shares a great deal of pride in what was achieved. It’s particularly pleasing that the development is on our doorstep.
“We have created quality homes, allowing people to live, work and play in Doncaster.
Empire specialises in purchasing large commercial properties and converting them into modern and stylish apartments.
